Imagine putting a Betacam tape into your DV VTR and importing its pristine footage digitally into your Non-Linear Editor. Position the 2ST™ between your SDI-enabled Betacam, Betacam SP, or Betacam SX VTR and your Non-Linear Editor... your NLE will think it is hooked directly to a DV player/recorder. Bringing Betacam footage into your NLE is as simple as using a DV deck. Eliminate the hassles of importing Betacam footage to your DV NLE and get a pristine digital transfer in the process. The connection is far simpler than using an analog DV transcoder because the 2ST™ takes advantage of the SDI signal from the Betacam VTR. Two standard video cables carry all video and audio in and out of your SDI-enabled Betacam VTR instead of two video cables and four audio cables. 2ST™ uses standard BNC connectors, eliminating those nightmares dealing with connector genders. Your Betacam footage will never again be degraded by taking the Betacam's analog output as is typical with other portable DV transcoders. The 2ST™ is the only product of its kind on the market. The embedded audio transmitter and receiver conform to SMPTE 272M-A (audio at 48kHz, synchronous to video).

_STEADY STREAM = SMOOTH TRANSCODING

Using a DV deck for transcoding is problematic because when attempts to lay back to Betacam are made, the Betacam deck won't lock to the video coming out of the DV deck as it transcodes in realtime from Final Cut Pro, as an example. The only workaround is to lay to DV and then dub to Betacam from the DV deck.

This may be since the DV deck is transcoding in real time, the sync signals are not perfect and the capstan in the Betacam deck keeps trying to modulate its speed for the erratic sync coming from the DV deck.

Many new decks can require expensive support calls and down-time before they finally begin working properly with Final Cut Pro HD and others. Your dependable SDI set up is working perfectly...you just need a reliable way to get that video stream into 1394 so you can leverage that expensive, powerful NLE.



The 2ST™ is also the perfect compliment to the studio or production plant, providing bi-directional conversion capability and remote machine control.
